Institute for Economy and the Environment, University of St. Gallen, IWÖ-HSG

Institute for Economy and the Environment, University of St. Gallen (IWOe-HSG), has been founded in 1992 as one of the first University institutes in Europe to explore the interdependences of the economy, nature and society. It has been pioneering research and education in this field across Europe. IWOe-HSG's mission is to analyse conditions necessary for an environmentally sound market economy and corporate sustainability management. The Institute cooperates with businesses, government and other stakeholders, including NGOs, and maintains close links to other research orientated organizations, in order to impart its results to practical business situations and thus ensure an impact on real life.
Furthermore, IWOe-HSG supports an extensive teaching and educational portfolio on undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels, and provides consulting services to clients on a contract basis. IWOe-HSG's primary research areas include sustainable consumption, renewable energy, sustainable entrepreneurship, environmental management and finance.
